HEMP    This speech is about hemp, also known as Cannabis, Marihuana, Reefer, Pot, Weed, Shit, Grass and other terms. For thousands of years this plant was an important resource and medicinal herb for many cultures .   HEMP-DRUG: Appearances: brown, resin-well-behaved substance with characteristic smell. Marijuana: dried leaves and flourishes(blossoms) of the hemp Cannabis is available in three main forms, as a dried herb (grass), as a resin (hash or hashish) which is extracted from the buds and flower heads in the country of origin, and less commonly as a sticky liquid (hash oil) which is prepared from the resin. The long-term effects (duration use) is: Psychological dependence, concentration disturbances and performance loss, Anxiety, fear, irritability, and sleep disturbances   HEMP-HISTORY: The earliest hemp-textiles date back to 8000 B.C. - about this time pottery was invented.

The Chinese describe hemp in the oldest medicine-book as an herb to treat Malaria, Rheumatism, Menstruation problems and many other common diseases and conditions.Cannabis is also an effective medicine against hayfever and asthma. Even Queen Victoria used to take cannabis in a tincture form (dissolved in alcohol) to alleviate her period pains. THC: (TetraHydroCannabiol) the stuff which makes you high(it causes u a high,that’s why it’s illegal) We know today that THC can be used to help treat asthma, nausea during chemotherapy, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis and loss of appetite or sleep. It was even observed that oxidated THC can be used to help fight some forms of cancer. Although hemp can be a very useful herb, it is still outlawed because of its supposed dangerous characteristics.

But the importance of hemp as a industrial and medicinal resource far outweight the possible dangers of THC as a drug.   HEMP-useful plant: FIBER: The hemp becomes high 2-4m and has long-stalked, finger shaped sheets(leaves). It grows almost everywhere in the world, also in the so-called " 3rd world ", exceptions are rain forests and polar regions. The stalk fibre of the hemp serves for the production of sewing cotton, strings, cords and ropes as well as from sailcloth, belts and carpets. Eating Cannabis means that the active ingredients have to fight their way through the stomach contents before they can be absorbed into the blood.
