  Kurt cobain

Kurt Cobain HIS LIFE Kurt Cobain was the leader of Nirvana, a grunge rock band that broke into mainstream in the early nineties. He was born on the 20th February 1967 in Hoquaim, a small town near Seattle. Although he was sickly and hyperactive, he was happy in his early childhood. When he was seven years old his parents divorced. This was an highly traumatic experience and Kurt became difficult and reserved, so that his parents could not cope with him anymore. He lived at several relatives then, was even homeless for a short while.

At high school he was an outsider and often got beaten up. After dropping off high school he went to Olympia, later forming Nirvana. They achieved huge success, but Kurt who was very sensitive did not seem to be able to cope with his new life. In 1992 he married ex-stripper Courtney Love, already being addicted to heroin. In the same year their daughter Frances Bean was born. In the meantime, Nirvana's success increased.

Nevertheless his addiction became worse and finally, in 1994, he committed suicide. NIRVANA In 1986 Kurt Cobain and his friend Krist Novoselic formed Nirvana, influenced by bands like the Sex Pistols and the Melvins. Nivana consisted of Kurt Cobain (guitar/vocals), Krist Novoselic (bass) and Dave Grohl (drums). In 1989 they released their first album Bleach, one year later they placed a record contract with Geffen. They were the first non-mainstream band to do this. Their break through was Nevermind, which was released in 1991 and sold over ten million times.

Smells Like Teen Spirit became Nirvana's most acclaimed song, a whole generation was able to recognise in Kurt's lyrics. In Utero, the third album, was released in 1993. Nirvana went on tour in the same year, their MTV Unplugged performance which deeply moved the audience included. In winter 1993/1994 Nirvana went on a big european tour, but the schedule changed when Kurt suddenly develloped throat problems. HIS DRUG PROBLEM AND SUICIDE Some people say the reason for Kurt's later heroin addiction are the medication he had to take against his hyperactivity as a child. Those medication had several secondary effects, mainly sleeplessness.

When he was older, Kurt suffered from stomach pain and began to take heroin in 1992 to get rid of it. On the 4th of March 1994 he had a suicide bid in Rome, where he was visiting his wife Courtney Love. He had taken fifty painkillers and mixed them with champagne, nonetheless it was called an "accident". After he got out of the hospital, he flew back to Seattle, where he entered a detox programme. However, he dropped out after only a few days. Kurt wrote into his diary: "I've read so many pathetic second-freudian evaluations.

.. of my personality and how I'm a notoriously fucked up heroine addict, ... , yet over-sensitive, .

.. , neurotic, who at any minute is going to OD (overdose), jump off a roof wig out, blow my head off or all three at once." On the 5th April 1994, Kurt Cobain shot himself in the head with a shotgun in his house in Seattle. Three days later he was found by an electrician. To his wife Courtney Love and his daughter Frances Bean he left a suicide note ending with the words "I love you, I love you.

" Several teenagers in the US and Australia copied him and committed suicide.
